Does being dissed by Slate make me look fat?

"Now, here's the Little Green Footballs guy.  (Sure, I said that he was out of the game and would be replaced by one of the women from The Cotillion, but it turns out they are even more annoying than he is.)," writes an apoplectic person of the left, proprietor of Salon's World of Crap blog. Roger L. Simon explains:

Another example of Charles-bashing today can be found on the fire-breathing Salon . . . Yes, they are still there . . . under the "highly-sophisticated" blog title World O'Crap. The wannabe Mencken who blogs under that moniker attacks Little Green Footballs for linking a story from The Independent about a possible 100,000 trained terrorists now in Britain. Never mind that . . . that the article raises significant issues for Britain and for the West: the important thing is to bash Charles. Yet this man [doesn't] know Charles from Adam. He assumes Charles is conservative on all subjects because he is militant on the WoT. Nothing could be further from the truth. This is the kind of childish partyline thinking that makes bloggers like this blind to new ideas and has turned Salon, an Internet pioneer, into an old-fashioned publication scarcely worth reading.

Old-fashioned, definitely.  The blogger dissed The Cotillion but didn't have the smarts to link to us gals.  Still, as we said, when the spiffy, spoofy Huntington's Toast called us "Silly Willis":

"I don't care what you say about me, as long as you say something about me."

It can't be said too often: Some bloggers will do anything to be noticed.

Update:  One of Roger's commenters, W.J.A., takes some of the wind out of our sails: "Roger, the Salon blog you link to isn't Salon the magazine, but one of hundreds of subscriber-run blogs hosted on Salon's Radio Weblog."
